REDEGG /NSF Awards Merit Scholarship to Local Students
Nagercoil, India. January 31, 2009. As part of the corporate social responsibility activities of REDEGG InfoExpert Technologies, Pvt. Ltd, the leading software and knowledge processing company located at Nagercoil, they have partnered with North South Foundation (NSF) in USA to form a local chapter of NSF -USA. NSF – USA is a non-profit voluntary organization that awards scholarships to qualified and needy students in India entering colleges regardless of religion, gender, caste or creed. The NSF - USA Scholarship program in Kanyakumari District is facilitated by the employees of REDEGG.
Through a very rigorous process, the REDEGG employee volunteers have selected and received approval to award scholarships to four local students to attend college starting this year. During the initial days, to spread the news among the needy students, REDEGG employees collected the addresses of 122 Government and Government-Aided schools in Kanyakumari District. Letters were posted to the Head Masters of these schools. Subsequently news paper advertisements were sponsored by REDEGG to promote the scholarships. Out of the hundreds of applicants, NSF application package was sent to the top 30 applicants. Then they selected 7 applications which were complete and were found eligible for the NSF scholarships. These applicants were invited for a personal interview at REDEGG offices. After the interview, four deserving candidates were selected and submitted for approval to NSF –USA headquarters. REDEGG is very proud to bring NSF - USA to Kanyakumari District and be able to support deserving students in our district.
This year’s recipients of scholarships will each receive Rs.10,000 per year for the four years of their college studies. The following are the recipients of the 2008 -09 REDEGG/NSF scholarships.
Vivin -- Government Engineering College, Tirunelveli
Usha -- Government Engineering College, Tirunelveli
Vignesh-- Government Engineering College, Ariallur
Subramania Pillai -- Cape Institute of Technology, Nagercoil
During a simple ceremony and reception dinner held today at the REDEGG offices to honor the recipients of the scholarships, the scholarships and appreciation letters were distributed by the Chief Executive Officer of RedEgg Solutions, Mr.Gaugarin Oliver, USA. He congratulated the students on their accomplishments and gave them words of encouragement. The meeting was attended by REDEGG employees, local business leaders and parents of the students.
